Space are limited

I'm now in my 24th week. Having problem of discomfort lately. I think the babies are growing and they needed the extra space, thus explains why my rib are in pain. The easiest explanation for it is because the babies are taking up more space thus pushing my rib. I feel the pain, right above my tummy, below my breast. I'll be awaken by the pain about every hour or two at night. And during the day, the pain come and go. Went to see the doctor at a nearby clinic, he said nothing much can be done. It's not advisable to take any painkiller, afraid of the side effect that might occur. Since I wouldn't want to risk or rather jeopardize my babies health, I would just have to tolerate the pain.

When the doctor first saw my tummy, he asked what's my height. I guess it was pretty obvious that the size of my uterus is rather large for my height. I just can't imagine how it would be like for the next couple weeks. Babies growing in this small petite body of mine. I'm only 157cm and my current weight is 51kg. I was 40kg before pregnant, but the first trimester my weight drop to 38kg, due to terrible or rather horrible morning sickness. Or shall I say, all-day-long-sickness.

I asked the doctor, what's the earliest for delivery, he told me 28th weeks. Gosh it then hit me...that means I have possibilities of giving birth in 4 weeks! Am I ready? Hard for me to answer to that question. Through the readings I did, most triplet cases give birth between 32 to 34 weeks, the most up to 36 weeks.

Hope things get better for me =)

Grey's Anatomy

Sorry for the long hiatus. I always wanted to keep this blog updated but somehow mood of typing ain't there, yeahh lets blame on the hormone..hihi. In my previous post, I mentioned I am now udner the government hospital. Did my first check-up and glad it wasn't too bad. Could still tolerate the queue. Well, I hope I'm not saying this too soon, wouldn't want to go for my next appointment and to find out I'm stuck there for hours and hours. Let's cross my fingures.

Anyway, what happen? The hospital is promoting the benefits of breast feeding, so there we were, attending a mini seminar of breast feeding, yes it was compulsory. Even husband had to tag along. It really really reminds me back to those uni days where u had to sit for a BORING subject, having no other choice. syauQi felt asleep. It was about 45mins, almost exactly the same length as classes in uni; 50mins.

After the speech, measured my weight, blood pressure and all. My weight have increase up to 10kg!!! As usual had problem taking my blood, they needed 5 tubes of it. Had to cucuk a few times before the blood generously came out.

Then came the part which I always look forward to in every doctor visit, the 3D scan. The feeling that can never be describe in words upon seeing the small creature in you moving around. We could see the baby sucking his/her thumb. After awhile, the baby started putting his/her hands in a position like making dua' (prayers). The doctor scan me longer than usual because being in University Hospital, they have lots of medic students. So the scenario I face was something like the one in Grey's Anatomy. Being surrounded by students, exposing my tummy to them while the doctor/professor explain the details of what they could see.
After the 3D scan completed, went to see another doctor for the consultation, she explained to me in detail the result of the scan.

After explaining, she said she needed my help. I was rather curious at that moment, what kind of help a doctor would want from me. Oh, the medic students will be sitting for their exam on Monday, and the doctor was wondering if I could help her by being the subject of case study. The doctor thinks a case of triplets would be great for her students. Anyway, I said I'm fine with it, ( I wouldn't want to screw my rapport with a nice beautiful doctor, hehehe) she said a small ammount wiill be given to me as a token but actually I was more concerned if she could provide me with a convinient parking lot right infront of the maternity ward.

So far, al-hamdulillah my pregnancy progressing accordingly =)

Oh did I mentioned, the hospital didn't print out photos of my babies. Apparently they dont do that there. OH....I badly want it!

************

So I went to be the "guinea pig" for my doctor. Wow I find it rather impressive. Just by looking at my tummy, yes looking not even touching...the medic students could automatically give a list of report and they even mentioned my uterus seems larger than usual. All students were able to figure out I'm having a multiple pregnancy without even telling them the slightest hint ever. The only think their professor told them was "I want you to check her abdomen" and taddaaaa....they were all able to figure out. Cool! I was checked 6 times, I think mine was the most. the patients beside and infront of me, only had theirs checked 3 times.

Government Hospital

A month a go I went for my check-up with my regular doctor. Happy to see all three babies are progressing fine =). It was my 18th week. The doctor and I had already discussed about my delivery since the beginning. He suggested that I deliver at government hospital as it would be cheaper, yup giving birth at private hospital will cost me a bomb! I once been told by my dad a triplets was delivered at the private Damansara Specialist and cost them RM80,000. (tat's about USD 20,000) I could use that amount to buy a new car! Triplets are usually born prematured, so they hafta be placed in the incubator which what made the fees so expensive. A day of incubator would be RM1,000 each. So that would be RM3,000 a day. And in most cases they would have to stay in the incubator for at least 2 weeks.

I was then given the recommendation letter by my doctor to enable me to register at the government hospital. I could already imagine the long waiting of hours and hours. Well, do I have a choice now? No! Lucky thing my mom have a friend who works there as a senior nurse. She helped me out with the registration. But even with the help, I don't straight away get to see a doctor, they gave a date to come again which will be next week. I can't imagine if I don't know anyone inside, how many weeks it takes for me to get a appointment date. My mom's friend's told me, I'm consider lucky coz I was given a date just the following week. They consider mine as special case which needed extra attention coz it's a triplet. In other cases, you'll be given an appointment date at least month later.

Anyway, so far I'm feeling much better but of cause can't avoid the backache from time to time. Especially if I were to sit for a long period. I can now sleep more comfortably, not sure is it because I manage to find the right position or have I adapt to the size of my new body, hihi. And I now began to realise how expensive pregnancy are. Now that I no longer can fit in most of my clothes, it hit me how much I need to spend for all that. Lucky me I'm not working, or else I even have to buy new set of formal attire, fuhh. The maternity bra I bought last month which I thought there are lotsa room more for me to grow, is now actually tight....gosh. Perhaps I should just stay home and used my nice comfy pyjamas all day long, hihi.

Oh I also suffer from heartburn from time to time. The first time I had it, it was really really bad that I even had difficulty breathing. According to the readings that I did, milk could help reduce the heartburn, unfortunately I'm allergic to milk (casseine). Opps, forgot to mention this, the babies are moving a lot now. Very active. At times if I make a sudden bend, like to pick up something on the floor,it hurts, I dont think it was kicking, it feels more like something pocking me, could be their elbow or knee is in a certain position and when I bend down it feels something sharp pocking me. But at least I'm happy to know that they are active =)
